Museums can educate through culture too

The project, originally entitled "Cultural Empowerment: gender equality explained through art", was rejected in 2021 for funding in the category of "education through culture" assuming the regimentation of the museum institution in the strict area of heritage…
As we consider the research and the materials to be of social interest, the project was renamed "Tolerance more than love" and run as online campaign.
The collections of Brukenthal National Museum include paintings whose themes illustrate poverty, old age, vulnerability to abuse, inadequacy to established aesthetic criteria, and their relevance reminds us of the still unresolved social dysfunctions we are facing.
Unfortunately, the present shows us that tolerance and empathy, more than love, are the community attitudes we need.
The means of combating non-inclusion are never enough; we add art, hoping for the real possibility of education through culture.
