Text from the exhibition curator: „In a hedonist world, the human being is living its existence stubbornly fighting to drawing its wish for permanence into the realm of eternity. The refusal of Christ’s sacrifice, makes it a certain victim when in an imaginary labyrinth” – is the statement under which Emil Paşcalău places his exhibition project in Sibiu. Reiterating the complexity and the striking subjectivity of his concept of realist figurative art, the painting of Emil Paşcalău subscribes to a strong contemporary trend of rediscovery art through the means of re-understanding it, the approach implying elements from diverse types of neo-realism and also related to naturalism, hyper-realism, dream realism and surrealism.
