On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 5 p.m., at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 6 Tribunei Street, will take place the opening of the exhibition “Autobiography” of the artist Gheorghe Pârcălăboiu, curators Cristina Mihu and Alexandru Constantin Chituță.
The artist Gheorghe Pârcălăboiu has dedicated himself to drawing for more than 5 centuries. Born in the Apuseni Mountains, he came to Mărginimea Sibiului and taught drawing lessons to dozens of generations of children. He settled in Sibiu and continued to pass on the beauty and technique of drawing at the Children's Club. He was and still is fascinated by Sibiu but differs from Hans Hermann through the symbolism and metaphors of his work and is he loves poetry. His work can be understood from these characteristics. The influence of the medieval city and poetic rhyme together with a rich imagination of the fascinating world of stories and narrations can be found in the artist’s works.
