Text from the exhibition organizers:
Besides the Romanian population, a large diversity of national minorities lives on the Romania’s today territory. These ethnic groups are historically and politically rooted in the regions of their living, manifesting not only a strong cohesion but also developing their own identities, traditions, customs and dialects. Numerous influences, lexical or culinary, customs or folklore originated in this intercommunity.
The provenance mark never faded away in the German communities, the preservation of German language and culture being one of their central objectives. Through the means of ulterior immigration, economical relations and education stages, the connection with Central and Western Europe was maintained constant. By relating continuously to the provenance areas in knowledge and custom, the German communities developed complex associative structures that exist until de present days in updated forms. Thus, even today, they are inspired by a unique treasury of experience in order to give shape to their present and future.
