Text from the exhibition curator: The exhibition presents some of the most beautiful and interesting book-bindings, from the 16th century up to the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition aims to promote the originality and inventiveness in bookbinding, presenting parchment covers stamped with famous people-figures like Carol V or Luther, book-bindings in brown leather with golden ornaments and boxed spines, specific to the 18th century; old Romanian books bound in leather on wood; lapels of Arabic prayer book and, of course, books with the Brukenthal bookbinding and Baron’s heraldic badge on the ex libris. There are also exhibited books printed in Sibiu, at the beginning of the 20th century, and photo reproductions from different books.
