Text from the exhibition curator: The artist, whose work was presented as part of international exhibitions (Brazil, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Spain, Belgium) and exhibitions opened in Romania, being comprised in the collections of National Fine Arts Museum of Romania, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest and the International Museum of Engraving in Curitiba (Brazil), is using various techniques, some of them difficult and rarely approached: etching on steel plate, dry point on plastic or stainless steel, watercolour, wax and gouache on paper, ceramics, sculpture in wax, bone, stone, bronze, brass and silver. As suggested by the frequently used symbols of the bird or the wing, Ovidiu Simionescu’s work is the outcome of a deep and continuous reflection, an act of will and self-challenge as well as self-overcoming through tenacious efforts.
