On February 14, on the occasion of largely celebrated Valentine’s Day, Brukenthal National Museum organizes the awarding festivity for 10 of the 29 volunteers that choose in 2013 to spend a part of their free time involving in museum activities: from the events for general public to education projects and exhibitions, from archaeology to restoration.
Ioan Brai, Mara Ionaşcu, Daniela Levai, Răzvan Malanca, Cristina Mihu, Talida Diana Orian, Florentin Perianu, Liviu Răzvan Pripon and Alexandru-Paul Subţirel gathered together over 1.500 hours of volunteer work and a large diversity of activities in specialty or addressed to the public (assistance in painting restoration, assistance in polychrome wood restoration, registration in the electronic data base of 5.698 pieces of archaeological ceramic material, collaboration to the audio-guide for the Museum of Natural History, curator’s work, coordinating education activities, collaboration to the study on the education efficiency of the permanent exhibition of Museum of Natural History, collaboration to the study of ornithological collection of the museum, the International Day of the Museum and the Long Night of the Museums programs as well as the national educational programme School in a different way).
Through the means of I love Brukenthal programme (launched in 2013), our institution aimed at creating a common ground for museum employees and the public, and in this respect the volunteers programs shown the viability of the idea – under the guidance of museum specialists (Rodica Ciobanu, Ioan Muntean, Cristina Scărlătescu, Constantin Scărlătescu and Anamaria Tudorie), the Brukenthal volunteers proving that there is such thing as cultural romanticism and 1.500 hours of volunteer work could be another way to declaring love.
