ION ISAILĂ DONATION

On the 17th of April 2015, the Brukenthal National Museum received a generous donation from the artist Ion Isailă. The donation includes 164 graphic works and paintings, 121 of them being made by the artist himself during his study years at the School of Art from Sibiu, the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts from Bucharest and the Academy of Art in Düsseldorf , Germany

Part of the donation are 17 works realized by artist`s wife Mirela Buciu – Isăilă; other 16 works were realized by the Romanian artists Şt. Anastasiu, Andreea Popa, George Leolea, Marieta Besu; and other 10 works of Alberto Valverde Travieso (Spain), Maarten Beks and Gerrits Kassiël (Holland), Mariane Gehrkens, Rupert Eising and Karl Böcker (Germany). The Romanian artist Ion Isailă was born in Sibiu, in 1953. He studied in Romania and Germany, country where he established in 1984. His works has been exhibited in Romania, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Japon, Coreea, Belgium, Holland, France. Text offered by the researcher Maria Ordeanu.
