The "Cuisine at the Princely Court of Transylvania in the 16th Century" project

Organized during May – August 2018, the "Cuisine at the Princely Court of Transylvania in the 16th Century" project, co-funded by the National Cultural Trust Administration and implemented by Brukenthal National Museum, partner Jules Restaurant in Sibiu, is supporting the Sustainable Development Strategies of Sibiu County for the recognition of food and gastronomy on local and regional policy level, part of the Sibiu 2019 – European Gastronomic Region project.
Thus, by the means of project’s activities, for the summer of 2018, Brukenthal National Museum invited general public to experience the medieval atmosphere within the Altemberger House Museum of History, one of the most impressive civilian Gothic architectural ensembles in Romania: music, a culinary presentation, the launch of a book comprising recipes used at the prince of Transylvania’s court in the 16th century and a photo-documentary exhibition illustrating kitchen vessels and cutlery used at the crossing between medieval and modern
