THE ROMANIAN ART GALLERY

.

Opened on 25th of November, 2009, the permanent exhibition displaying Romanian Art was accommodated in the rooms of the Blue House (entrance at the second floor of the Brukenthal Palace).
200 paintings of the Museum collections are presented, following the evolution of painting in Romania (18th to the 20th centuries), observing chronological and stylistic criteria.
The concept of presentation evinces synchronic and in comparatively the representative artists of Romanian national art and, at the same time, what is specific to the Brukenthal collection: the Transylvanian section (one of the richest in Romania) completed by the modern works of a grate value to the mid 20th century.
The selection reveals the European influences imported by Romanian art, interferences and specific aspects.
Without ignoring the charm and the novelty of the works done by Transylvanian painters as Johann Martin Stock, Franz Neuhauser, Mișu Popp, Carl Dörschlag, Arthur Coulin or Octavian Smigelschi the exhibitions also display for the public valuable works done by masters as Theodor Aman, Nicolae Grigorescu, Ion Andreescu, Ștefan Luchian, Hans Mattis-Teutsch, Corneliu Mihăilescu, Gheorghe Petrașcu, Theodor Pallady, Nicolae Tonitza, Alexandru Ciucurencu, Corneliu Baba, Ion Țucules
