The exhibition illustrates the most important mark points in the history of glasswork as it is reflected by the preserved items discovered in Transylvania, either of a local production or imported.
In the first room, the process of glass manufacturing is presented, starting with the rough material and concluding with the final product, every stage of the process being illustrated by the archaeological findings at the site of an old glassware workshop in the village of Porumbacul de Sus (Sibiu County). Among the discovered items, there are pharmaceutical jars, glass ornaments and crucible fragments, blowing glass patterns and a reconstituted version of the Porumbacu furnace.
The second room is concerned with the final product of the glass processing and observes the history of this specific material from its natural state to the elaborate glass objects of 19th century. There are also displayed items of various functions among which: tools, adornments, windows and mirrors.
