Text from the curators:

This year, on the occasion of the Earth Hour event, Brukenthal National Museum celebrates a double bicentennial.
1817 it is both the year of the public opening of the first museum in Romania by testamentary dispositions of Baron Samuel von Brukenthal (1721-1803) and the official year for the invention of the bicycle by Baron Karl Drais (1785-1851).
On the occasion of international event Earth Hour and of promoting non-polluting means of transportation, during March 24 – 26, the visiting public is invited to the Museum of History to meet the ancestors of today's bikes – a velocipede and a bicycle dated in the 19th c.
