RELIGIOUS ART IN TRANSYLVANIA

The first room in this exhibition sector focuses on the altar pieces from the late 15th c. to the early 16th c.
To be noted are the painted panels of Pro?tea Altar, the outcome of a laborious restauration process conducted inside Museum’s laboratories from 2006 until 2015.
The thematic display also presents a showcase with vestments or liturgical garments.
The second room presents on display pieces originating from various Christian denominational art backgrounds: Eastern-Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant, consisting of works of painting as well as sculpture in wood or stone.
According to the thematic, the room exhibits iconostasis and altar crucifixes, icons, votive works, objects of a liturgical function and church furniture.
