As a general rule in Brukenthal Palace, the disposition of the rooms on all levels is linear, i.e. the rooms open successively one into the other. Following the custom of the time, the first storey was reserved for the ceremonial use and apartments.
Of the remarkable rooms on this storey, mention should be made of the music room and the rooms flanking it, destined for ladies (to the right) and for gentleman (to the left). The Baroque Salons still preserve the original wallpaper of silk, painted linen or cardboard decorated with Oriental motifs (trees, flowers and birds). Displaying artistry as well, there are the stuccoes, the woodwork, the faience stoves brought from Vienna, the crystal chandeliers.
