Exhibition: Hans Hermann (1885 – 1980): In Search for the Light -125 years since artist’s birth
Location: Brukenthal Palace, Prints Cabinet

Opening: 18.02.2010, 2 pm

Curator: Dr. Maria Ordeanu

Duration: 18.02.2010 -
The exhibition entitled In Search for the Light presents 38 of the 200 engravings by Hans Hermann, at present in the Prints Cabinet of the Brukenthal National Museum, dated between 1912 and 1962. For the first time, the artist’s early works (1912 – 1919) take part in an exhibition opened in Sibiu. Less known works representing mountain and urban landscapes and dated between World Wars and since, are also to be admired.
Highly appreciated for his depictions of the Transylvanian mountains and fortresses, Hans Hermann was engaged in a continuous exploration of the light, illustrating in black and white different moments of the day, from dawn to sunset.
The exhibition is dedicated to Hans Hermann’s memory as engraver and painter.
